The Kansas City Giving Machine held its Grand Unwrapping event on Saturday, November 22, 2025 celebrating five years helping those in need in KC.

The kick-off event was once again hosted by “head coach of the head coach” Tammy Reid, wife of Kansas City Chiefs’ head coach Andy Reid; and Tavia Hunt, wife of Chiefs’ chairman and CEO Clark Hunt and head of the Chiefs’ women’s organization. Other special guests included Clark Hunt, Missouri Governor Mike Kehoe and wife Claudia, Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas, Apostle of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Elder Gary E. Stevenson and wife Lesa, Area Authority Seventy of the Church Michael Ortiz and wife Bethanie, Bishop James V. Johnston, Jr., of the Diocese of Kansas City – St. Joseph, among others.

Confetti canons went off after a video touted the KC Giving Machine success of collecting more than one million dollars in donations for local and global charities during the last five years.

Clark Hunt, Governor Kehoe, Mayor Lucas, Elder Stevenson, Elder Ortiz and Bishop Johnston all spoke during the event.

The Giving Machine will be located in Union Stations’ Grand Hall now through January 1. The Giving Machine is a vending machine with a Christmas twist. Instead of purchasing something for you, it’s an easy way to donate essential items to those in need this holiday season and to support designated local and global charities.

The 2025 Giving Machine local charities are: Catholic Charities of Kansas City-St. Joseph, Happy Bottoms, Harvesters – The Community Food Network, Hillcrest Transitional Housing, Mayor’s Christmas Tree Fund, Science City at Union Station, and The HALO Foundation.

One hundred percent of every donation goes directly to the charity of your choice.

This year Kansas City also is hosting Traveling Digital Giving Machines which will pop-up all over the metro area from Zona Rosa to the Commerce Bank building to B&B Theaters. The digital versions will offer similar donation options as the original ones in Union Station.
