Wendy Dyck, a member of Liberty Missouri Stake for 34 years, was honored as one of six Northland Outstanding Church Women of 2025 by the interdenominational Church Women United (CWU) on May 2, 2025, at the Stake Center.

CWU is a nationwide organization that was established in 1941. Women from the Liberty Stake of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints became active in the organization in 2016.

“CWU is a group of Christian women from different denominations that come together to build unity and worship together. It has really helped bridge understanding and love for one another,” said Jennifer Tilletson (Rush Creek Ward) who serves on the CWU board. “We share experiences of how God has helped us and changed and supported us.”
Nominees for the award are helpful, dependable, loyal, dedicated, faithful, loving, strong, and gentle. They make the world a better place as they do God’s work on Earth, according to Doris McGehee, President of CWU.

Dyck has been a volunteer with CWU for seven years and said she was humbled by the nomination.

“It was founded as a racially, culturally, theologically inclusive Christian women’s movement to celebrate unity and diversity and work for peace in the world. I personally believe I have an obligation to understand different religions. CWU provides a way for women to do just that.”

The nomination of Dyck was made by friends and members of the Oak Grove Ward. The nomination read in part, Dyck “exemplifies the attributes of a Christian woman in her church activity, family, and community service. Her entire life is built on Christlike service…Wendy, like the Lord, goes about doing good. She does not wait to be asked, but takes it upon herself to find those who need service and ministers to them.”

Some of the notable activities Dyck was recognized for were: writing and directing music for the Kansas City Temple Youth celebration in 2012; directing church choirs for more than 40 years; teaching in many church organizations including EnglishConnect; organizing temple runs; and an Area EnglishConnect Specialist for the North America Central and West Areas.
